WhatsApp confirmed that accounts that use unofficial third-party apps and that violate the use of the messaging service will be removed.
Who are the main affected?
The main affected will be those users who use fraudulent applications, such as WhatsApp Plus or GB WhatsApp, since security practices cannot be carried out on them and this can damage the devices where they are installed.
How will WhatsApp proceed?
The official messaging service will give notice through a message that the account is "temporarily suspended" so the user must download the official version on a mandatory basis.
If, after receiving this alert, the original version is not used, the account will be permanently suspended.
Some recommendations
It is recommended to back up your chat history before changing the version.
In WhatsApp Plus, if the user previously stored the chat history, it will be automatically transferred to the official version.
For GB WhatsApp specifically, the company recommends following a series of steps:
- Wait for the temporary suspension to end. There is a timer that shows the duration of this suspension
- Go to the Menu "More Options"> Chats> Backup.
- Then in Phone settings select Storage> Files.
- Find the GB WhatsApp folder and hold down to select it.
- In the “More” option, located in the upper right-hand corner, I chose Change name and write “WhatsApp”.
- Download the official version from the Play Store and then restore the backup made.
